The Grinch with Audio Description Brings Huge Smiles
Excitement was building for months for our Audio Described Movie showing of The Grinch on December 2nd. Sixteen children with significant vision loss, their siblings and family members enjoyed "watching" the movie with additional descriptive narration through audio headsets. Audio Description enhances understanding and gives children with vision loss a sense of inclusion. Families have the chance to share a movie watching experience that involves their child with vision loss. Parents and siblings also had a chance to hear the magic of Audio Description with additional headsets. This uplifting holiday event would not have been possible without the generosity of the Krikorian Metroplex to host this unique experience for our children, their siblings, parents and other family members. Mattel kindly donated toys for all the children and food donations were provided by Portillo's. Junior Vistas, a co-ed junior philanthropy in the South Bay, wrapped all the gifts and greeted every child and family at registration. Each family expressed their own heartfelt "Thank You" including handmade cards and a group shout out included in this two minute video clip sure to make you smile:
